Tasting Notes
100% Chardonnay from 2007, with Extra Brut dosage. The vineyards are situated at the banks of the Flagot (at Nesle-le-Repons), hence the name ‘Sources de Flagot’. The plots of Chardonnay dominate and follow the course of the river. The white grapes thus draw on the limestone marls, a minerality and unparalleled righteousness. This complex mono-varietal releases notes of flowers, spices and fruits.
Le Guide Hachette des Vins: "Pure chardonnay, it comes from the left bank of the Marne river. Another specificity, the bottles age here in music, rocked by pieces of Mozart, Beethoven or Brahms! The complex nose combines warm shades of plum and honey with mineral notes. As for the mouth, it is ripped, honeyed, rather evolved and delicate. Harmonious? This is a qualifier that we read on the cards of the tasters."
About the Wine Maker
The Loriot family, 12th generation wine makers since 1675, reside in Festigny on the Côte Meunier, an area southwest of Reims where the Pinot Meunier grape flourishes. Michel Loriot decided from a young age to be a musician, an ambition not exactly supported by his father and grandfather. Music was deemed a hobby, but his vocation was going to be that of wine maker. Luckily for us, he found a way to combine the best of both worlds, by making music an integral part of his vineyards and vinification process.
