Tasting Notes
The MEURSAULT "Clos de Tavaux" is grown in a closed area surrounded by walls. This gives it a warm and rich character. It has a heady bouquet, its consistency in the mouth is powerful and mellow. Despite his youthful flexibility, he ages very well. Nicely matured, yet fresh and lively. Brioche, roasted almonds, citrus fruits and beautiful minerality, with just a dash of butter.
About the Wine Maker
One of Burgundy's best kept secrets is this domain, which has been run by Claudine Gaunoux since the late 1990s. Throughout the year, she works meticulously in the vineyards to prune and tackle potential plant and grape problems at the source. As a result, Claudine harvests only the best grapes, which are then vinified and matured in stainless steel tanks. 'Wood is make-up for bad wines' is her adage. The fact is that her wines - with pure fruit flavors and minerality - are different from others. And as the connoisseurs know, Gaunoux's wines can be stored for a brilliantly long time!
