Tasting Notes
This lieu-dit is located at a high altitude (300m high) above the village of Cornas (120 m high). Slopes of very decomposed granite (gore). South-east facing with a lot of wind. Late ripening site. Grapes are destemmed. Maceration in concrete vats (for a better thermic inertia) for about 4 weeks (depending on the vintage). Extraction made by pumping over and punching down. The barrel ageing lasts around 12 to 14 months in oak barrels (around 10% new barrels).
Intense ruby colour with some purple reflects. Very pure and deep nose with aromas of ripe fruit (raspberry and blackcurrant). Pure, very mineral with a huge depth. Aromas of small very ripe berries, spices, and sour cherry. Very long lasting and persisting wine.

About the Wine Maker
The land and the people who tend it share the same history. A history which grows from generation to generation. At the origin, one man, Jean Orëns Ferraton. Vigneron, and son of a vigneron. A region basked in sun, the Rhône Valley. It was 1946. Michel, his son, inherited the same passion. He decided to give a new dimension to his father’s vineyards. The first Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph Ferraton were brought into the world. A close friend of the Ferratons’, Michel Chapoutier brought his know-how. In 1998, the vineyards were converted to organic viticulture, then certified, before embracing the culture of bio-dynamics.
