Talented natural winemaker Philippe Brand from Ergersheim (Alcase) is coming to Amsterdamfor the first time to share his wines with us in Restaurant Arles on 24 May. Philippe's father has initiated the conversion of his vineyards to biological years ago. Now they are Demeter certified. Philippe has taken it a step further and works according to the SAINS principle: vinification without any additives including suphites.
His wines can be characterized by a clear and pure style, full of fruit with terroir driven minerality. The maceration wines from Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer have a beautifully deep color and intense flavours. The Pinot Noir, latest addition to the range, has a powerful but round mouthfeel, full on the cassis and framboise fruit, and very pleasant to drink young.
