Small Production from Idyllic Vineyards
The property was bought in 1993 by Paul Marie Morillon, who is well known as advisor to the Chateaux Ausone, Yquem and La Mondotte. His wines are being distributed by Jean-Luc Thunevin, famous owner of Chateau Valandraud and initiator of the garage wine movement.
Le Château Lafont Fourcat is located in Pujols, in the Entre-Deux-Mers, below Castillon-la-Bataille. This hilltop village is overlooking the river valley of the Dordogne and faces on the hillside opposite St Emilion. The vines are terraced and on the slope, with 7 ha of red grape varieties and 2 ha of white. The terroir is composed of clay-limestone soil and offers a generous wine.
The wine making is realized in stainless steel tanks and then in new barrels for the selection at chateau “A Nos Amours”. The wines are concentrated, aromatic and fruity. They are a credit to the Bordeaux appellation.
This wine is made of 80% Muscadelle from vines over 100 years old, and 20% Sauvignon Blanc from young vines. Muscadelle is one of the oldest grape varieties from Bordeaux. This atypical blend gives the wine a floral nose, with hints of acacia flowers, honeysuckle and linden. A fresh and pleasant mouth feel, with delicate taste of yuzu making this a delicious wine. A beautiful marriage of Muscadelle and Sauvignon Blanc! The annual production is less than 10,000 bottles and we’re lucky to have them in our portfolio!
