The story

Domaine Ferraton Père et Fils produces outstanding wines in the Rhone valley, both in the northern and southern part. Renowned for their single vineyard wines, they also make great wines on the lower end of the spectrum such as this Cotes du Rhone.

The vineyards for this wine are situated on the left bank of the Rhône. Alluvial soil and gravely soil. After being harvested, the grapes are destemmed and the vinification takes place in vats. The extraction is made by punching down to ensure a good extraction of the tannins. The maceration lasts around 15 days. Temperature-controlled vinification. Then the wine is matured in vats.


The grapes

Grenache (80%), Syrah (15%), Cinsault (5%).


Tasting notes

Colour : garnet colour with ruby reflects.
Nose : very ripe red fruit.
Palate : nicely structured with firm and meaty tannins.
Aromas of blackberries, raspberries, blueberries and licorice. Nice spices and herbs.



Wine will be a great addition to dishes from game, red or white meat. It can be served with tuna steak or mushroom risotto.


About the wine maker

The land and the people who tend it share the same history.  A history which grows from generation to generation. At the origin, one man, Jean Orëns Ferraton. Vigneron, and son of a vigneron.  A region basked in sun, the Rhône Valley. It was 1946.

Michel, his son, inherited the same passion. He decided to give a new dimension
to his father’s vineyards. The first Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph
Ferraton were brought into the world.  A close friend of the Ferratons’, Michel Chapoutier brought his know-how. In 1998, the vineyards were converted to organic viticulture, then certified, before embracing the culture of bio-dynamics. Nowadays Damien Brisset is responsible for winemaking and vineyard management.
