Domaine Ferraton Père et Fils produces outstanding wines in the Rhone valley, both in the northern and southern part. Renowned for their single vineyard wines, they also make great wines on the lower end of the spectrum such as this Cotes du Rhone.
The vineyards for this wine are situated on the left bank of the Rhône. Alluvial soil and gravely soil. After being harvested, the grapes are destemmed and the vinification takes place in vats. After pressing, the must is cold-settled for 48 hours. Fermentation temperatures are controlled. Maturing in vats without malolactic fermentation, keeping the freshness of the fruit. Early bottling at the end of winter.
Blend of white Grenache (60%) and Clairette(40%).
Colour: bright, pale golden colour with silver hints.
Nose: Aromas of white flowers and white fruits.
Palate: Nicely balanced wine, the Clairettebrings the freshness and the white Grenache brings the body and softness.
This wine goes well with white fish, shellfish or even sushi. Alternatively you can enjoy it with a variety of soft and hard cheeses.
About the wine maker
The land and the people who tend it share the same history. A history which grows from generation to generation. At the origin, one man, Jean Orëns Ferraton. Vigneron, and son of a vigneron. A region basked in sun, the Rhône Valley. It was 1946.
Michel, his son, inherited the same passion. He decided to give a new dimension
to his father’s vineyards. The first Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph
Ferraton were brought into the world. A close friend of the Ferratons’, Michel Chapoutier brought his know-how. In 1998, the vineyards were converted to organic viticulture, then certified, before embracing the culture of bio-dynamics.
