Chateau de Laborde Bourgogne Hautes Cotes de Nuits Cuvée K 2019
|Delivery time:||2-3 weeks|
This white Burgundy is made from 100% Chardonnay from 30 year old vines. The vineyard is located on the side at the hill of Vergy which has a similar clay and chalk geology as the hill of Corton with South-East exposure. After harvest the wine is pressed and then fermented in oak barrels of which 30% are new. During the 12 month ageing process the wine undergoes battonage (the stirring of the lees) and completes malolactic fermentation. Then before bottling the wine gets a light filtration and is being bottled at slow speed. The annual production is 4000 bottles.
Color: Bright golden yellow.
Aromas: After a first approach all in finesse and discretion, the nose reveals notes of mild spices (cinnamon, vanilla), mirabelle plum and marshmallow.
Taste: The mouth is ample, full and fleshy, offering a generous greed sensation throughout the tasting, without ever falling into heaviness thanks to the support of a fine and fresh acidity. The balance is just perfect.
About the wine maker
Although Bourgogne is known for the greatest wines in the world, unfortunately lots of poor wines under 20 Euros are being sold. It’s not easy to find a producer that makes a ‘regular’ Burgundy wine, but we did it: Chateau de Laborde from Hervé Kerlann. Hervé Kerlann, originally from a Bordeaux family, moved to Bourgogne to learn about wine business. He became big in the trade, mainly exporting the great wines of top producers to Asia. Once established, he started buying and leasing vineyards to produce his own wines.
Because of his contacts with the great wine makers, he managed to get a few tips from everybody he worked with. He put those tips to work in producing his own wine to make the perfect Bourgogne.
