BEAUNE is the wine capital of Burgundy. Despite being an appellation slightly underestimated, the reds from the Beaune area are highly regarded when well made.
The vineyard “Clos des Mouches” is located on the East-Southeast of the slopes. The soil is a mainly brown with plenty of clay and marl. It’s situated right next to the vines of Pommard.
On the palate, the Clos de Mouches is very round, fine and elegant. The terroir provides notes of red fruit, ranging in the sweetness of strawberry to an almost tart raspberry note. While the wine can be enjoyed in its youth, the Clos des Mouches famously rewards patience as the wine easily ages for 20 or more years.
